Parker Posey is an actress who portrays June Harris aka Dr. Smith in Netflix's 2018 television series Lost in Space.

Overview Edit

Posey has appeared in over 90 films and television productions. When she received “Special jury recognition” at the Sundance Film Festival in 1997 for THE HOUSE OF YES, it was the first time that honor had been bestowed on an actor and not a film, a tribute to her unique contribution to the independent film world as well as her performance. She received nominations for a Golden Globe® (Best Supporting Actress, Hell on Heels: The Battle of Mary Kay) and two Independent Spirit Awards (BROKEN ENGLISH and PERSONAL VELOCITY).

Parker studied acting at the State University of New York at Purchase, and got her first break with a role on the daytime soap opera As the World Turns. Her first major role in a feature film was in Richard Linklater’scult classic DAZED AND CONFUSED. Throughout the 90s, Posey starred or co-starred in numerous independent films and was nicknamed “Queen of the Indies.”

Parker can be seen in Woody Allen’s latest two films, CAFÉ SOCIETY, in which she stars opposite Kristen Stewart, Jesse Eisenberg and Steve Carrell, and IRRATIONAL MAN with Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone for which she received rave reviews. She also starred in the feature film COLUMBUS, directed by Kogonada, which premiered at Sundance in 2017.

Parker’s previous work includes Chris Guest’s classic mockumentaries and she memorably co-starred with Louis CK in the critically-acclaimed television series Louis. Parker can also be seen in Chris Guest’s latest filmMASCOTS, which recently premiered at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival.
