The Metal Rings circle the planets in the Danger system, the Amber planet and the Water Planet and also possibly the Rainforest Planet. They also are on planets outside the Danger system like Home. The same race that built the Robots must have built the rings and it’s unknown how many there are. The rings have markings that match those on Robots and Scarecrow . It appears that Robots live inside these rings. The ring may have moved when the Robots came out of it because they have more advanced technology than humans. An electrical lightning storm occurs every 23 days and strikes the metal, which the Robinson's use to their advantage to harness electricity.
